sacred text

below are some screen shots of a project i've been working on at mariners. we set up an email account, called sacred text, that students can text messages their prayers to. i know that may sound lame - but the point, i think, is provide students another way to worship/connect with God during the singing parts of the services. i think that writing down a prayer, even in text message form, can help with being more focused and intentional with what you're saying...

...anyway, once we get a large amount of text messaged prayers, i get to put them together and make some sort of art out of it. the prayers are of course kept anonymous, all names are removed, and we try to make it clear that we are going to use the prayers in this way beforehand. the point of this, i think, is to show that all of our prayers collectively, are a beautiful thing. you can walk up to the poster and read the prayers, but that is not the primary purpose. so here are the first two design. hopefully there are many more to come. its been one of my favorite projects to work on.
