half way...

as my faithful readers may or may not recall, i committed to not buy any books for the summer (in my head summer is june, july, and august). well, its about half way (i actually have no idea when i started this thing) and its going just fine. i have tried rationalizing a couple books for various spiritual or vocational reasons. but didnt do it, dont worry.

so i have been getting my fix other ways. i found a copy of A Grief Observed in my garage, and i really enjoyed that. but here is the best part. last week i got two great books at the library. one of them i have been wanting to buy: Unlikely Destinations is basically the story behind the founding of Lonely Planet. I am quite sure i am the first person to ever check this book out of the library, which is great because i get the new book smell for free.

the other book i just stumbled across: Poor People. Its a fascinating and thought provoking look at poverty and contains tons of stories of beggars and street vendors and homeless people from all over the world. i really didnt think i'd enjoy it as much as i do. especially because the author's style annoys me...

I want to read Poor People...I think it sounds interesting. Even if the author sucks.
