the story of my acquisition of a bicycle

last june i spent a day wandering around the city of bicycles. i quickly decided that i simply must get a vintage european bicycle for myself. i searched ebay high and low but found nothing that grabbed me. one day while walking into the office i noticed one of three bicycles that had been sitting around since i started working. it wasnt my dream bike by any means, but i figured i could take it home for free being that it has just been sitting in one place collecting rust for at least 3 or 4 months. i squeezed the bike into my tiny car, and then called the owner - my coworker. he didnt want to give it up and asked me to make an offer, which i declined to do. i am not spending money for a piece of rust im not all that crazy about. so the bike spent a solid two months sitting in the exact spot i left it. fast forward to last friday... im sitting in my office as roy is walking in.
he says "graphics, just take it."
"what?"
"you can have the bike, you wore me down"
"...ok........ sweet."

the main emblem says "made in austria". somewhere else it says "made in germany". both in english. it could 5 years old or 50, i have no idea, and it needs quite a bit of work but i have been searching for a hobby.

here she is

She's a beauty and she has a story as well as character. She's probably so happy to be able to take someone for rides again...
So much better than just buying one at Target.
Congratulations.
What are you gonna call her?

Oh man, my mom stole my line...

I was going to say "She's beautiful. What's her name?"

I think you should call her Darcy...that sounds European.

congratulations, Graphics.

Julie is mistaking your bike for the Velveteen Rabbit.

I love it. I love you. I love that here you receive copious amounts of comments, increasing day to day, while I receive 1 or 2 at most with many a blog gone unloved. You see, sir, you are so very lovely.
